I’ve been so excited for my maternity shoot. It’s such a special time and I wanted to look and feel special also. So, in this blog post I’ll be talking about my hair and makeup look for my shoot.
I’ve seen this hairstyle for a couple of years and I’ve always wanted a bridal client of mine to bring me a pic like this for the creative challenge. Well, that has yet to happen so I decided to try it on myself since I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to go out in public like this hehe. What better time than my maternity shoot? I cannot wait to share all of the professional pics.
This hairstyle is a combination of a pull-through braid and fishtail braid. I wanted my hair to look textured but soft, fixed but not fixed, braided but not braided, effortless but intricate. I think you get the point. So, this style was perfect. I practiced the day before to see if it would work out since I was using extensions for extra length and volume. The practice run took about an hr and a half lol. However, the day of the shoot, I was rushed and had 45 minutes to repeat the style from the day before. I guess I work better under pressure because this is the result from that chaos. I loved it so much I did not want to take it down.
I loved my makeup for this shoot. I don’t normally go all glam on myself with lashes and contour except for a photo shoot, so this was fun. I wanted a soft, romantic look so I chose rosy, mauvey shades for my eyes and lips. Here are my makeup details:
Primer: NYX photo loving primer
Foundation: Mary Kay timewise matte foundation
Concealer : It cosmetics bye bye under eye
Contour: The Balm Bahama mama
Blush: Bare Minerals vintage Peach
Highlight: Hourglass luminous light
Brows : Sorme soft smoke powder
Liner : Maybelline Gel liner
Lashes: Ardel Demi wispies
Lips: Sorme liner in Baby Doll, NYX lipstick in Tea Rose
